Editing

Web Sites

It is often said that 'content is king' and that's particularly true on the web where people tend to have a fairly short attention span. In fact, some research shows you have about 12 seconds to get your message across. (Time it. It really isn't long.) So, basically, if you're finding that your website isn't converting as many leads as you'd like or perhaps your bounce rate is high, it may mean that your web content is just not hitting the spot. That's where I can help.

I offer both a web content review service, which involves providing a detailed written report on the specific errors on your website and how to correct them, as well as an intensive web content editing service where I supply a revised version of the specific section, page or even entire website.

In fact, if writing web content isn't your thing—and admittedly it's really more of an art—I can also write your web content for you, but that's another story, and another section of my website.

I am so excited! My home page is looking very professional. I love it! I don't know why I started reducing the information on my home page in the first place. I'm so happy I was referred to you. My web site now looks and feels exactly how I wanted it to. I just couldn't do it. I really appreciate what you have done for me in such a short time. Thank you for helping me so quickly. Now I can concentrate on improving the other pages.

Thank you again for your fantastic service.

Suddenly you feel a little ill as you stare at the ten boxes of advertising material that has just been delivered. As you excitedly opened the first pack, your eye was immediately drawn to something you cannot believe you missed, but there it is in black and white (or at least mocha).

Your best insurance against these sorts of mistakes is to commission me to look things over for you before you go to press. From flyers and newsletters to full-length books, I will edit your material to ensure that your communication is as error-free as possible. Remember that bad typos happen to good people. Don't let that person be you.

All writers need an editor and a proof-reader. Few writers seem to encounter one or the other. I was fortunate that I found both in the one person, and a researcher, and a sounding board for good measure, all of which are necessary in order to present the publisher with a book that has the potential to take on the "heavyweights". Editing is comparable to training a boxer: What he eats, the amount of exercise he does, the hours he spends resting, the reminders to lead with a left hook, all this makes the difference between being a knock-out or being KOed.

An editor is, more often than not, the trainer of the long distance writer.

I was very lucky to have had Renée appointed to my novel. It's been gruelling hard work. Now we're ready to enter the ring. And she will be in my corner!
